Will Kevin Durant Miss Training Camp?

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

Kevin Durant isn't happy playing in Brooklyn, or specifically under the head coach, Steve Nash. The All star player sat down with Joe Tsai, the owner of the Nets, two weeks ago and told Tsai that he either needed to fire Nash or he was leaving.

The Miami Heat, the Raptors and the Celtics have peaked interest in receiving Durant, but are unwilling to give up what the Nets are asking. Back in June the Celtics offered, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White for Kevin Durant. The Nets declined because they also wanted Jayson Tatum, the Celtics came out saying they have no desire to give up Tatum.

People are starting to question if Durant will even attend training camp. Brain Windhorst, talked about the issue on his Podcast and said,

"A week ago, if you had asked me, 'will Kevin Durant hold out of training camp if he's not traded?' I would have been like, 'I can't see it.' Now I can see it."

What's in Durant's future? It could be very possible that the 12 time All Star player could be traded to Memphis to play with Ja. Back when Durant had first come out with his trade request, twitter speculated that Memphis could receive Durant in the future after Ja Morant tweeted out, "easy money".

A reporter for the Athletic, Shams Charania said that Memphis is interested in KD, however they would not include Jaren Jackson Jr, or Desmond Bane. Though they are hoping that their five first round picks are enough for the Nets.
