What's gonna happen to the Flames?

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

The Calgary Flames anticipate to trade Matthew Tkachuk, who is a forward for the flames. Espn says,

"he told the team he will not sign a long-term extension".

Tkachuk had an amazing season last year, he had 42 goals, and 62 assists. The star forward has been with the flames for all of his six years, since 2016 when he was drafted sixth overall. It's not looking like he wants to continue on for a seventh year.

Where would Tkachuk end up? There hasn't been much said about what team he would go to. However, some may think that he could get traded to the St. Louis Blues. So, who would the Blues be willing to give up? SB Nation speculates that St. Louis would trade Jordan Kyrou, and Torey Krug to the Flames in order to receive Matthew Tkachuk.

If Tkachuk does end up getting traded then this upcoming season is gonna be difficult for the flames. Tkachuk is one of their top scorers, while Johnny Gaudreau who was the Flames top scorer, came out saying that he would not return to Calgary next season, In fact on opening day of NHL free agency, Gaudreau signed a seven year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
