Colorado taking what is theirs

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

2001, Colorado celebrating their victory after defeating the New Jersey Devils 3-1, stripping away the title away from the Devils who won the crown the pervious year.

21 years, Colorado have been waiting 21 years. Along the way the Broncos won the Super Bowl in 2016, and the Denver Nuggets have yet to win an NBA title. The Avalanches are no doubt the best sports team in Colorado from the past four years.

The playoffs was like taking candy away from a baby for the Avalanches. Round one, Colorado vs Nashville, the Avalanches went on to sweep Nashville, 4-0. Colorado goes onto play the St Louis Blues, wasn't easy but they pulled through the series, 4-2. Round three, Oilers stood no chance with Colorado, with the Oilers being swept.

Tampa Bay Lighting, for two years they have brought the title to Florida. Colorado is looking to switching things up this year. Game one and game two, the Avalanches come in and win both games, 3-4, and 0-7. Game three was no walk in the park for Colorado, Tampa had enough.

First period, Valeri Nichushkin takes a shot and ends up in goal, fortunately for the Tampa he was offsides and was called off due to the Lighting challenging the call. Not soon after Colorado does make the first point on the board, which just made Tampa find the fight in them to win. Within two minutes the Lighting would go onto score making Tampa in the led, 2-1. Then in the 2nd, Nicholas Paul took a shot a few feet away of the goal box, the puck went flying right through Darcy Kuemper arms and into the net. 15 minutes to go in the 2nd and the last goal in the game would be made by, you guessed it, Tampa Bay Lighting. Final score being 6-2.

Tampa is not backing down, and certainly not letting some boys from Colorado take what had been theirs for two years.
