The Kansas City Chiefs, a team that once dominated in the league, is now a team that’s in question for the playoffs.
On Thanksgiving, the Chiefs lost to the Cowboys, 31-28. Great news in Dallas, defeating the two recent Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs, and last week making a comeback against the Eagles.
As of right now, for the Chiefs to make the playoff picture, they have it win the rest of their upcoming games. The Chiefs haven’t missed the playoffs in over a decade. (2014) Its doable, but not easy. It’s more the defense than Mahomes or his offensive line.
In the Thanksgiving game, Dallas was able to find holes in the defense, juke them out, and outrun them. (Or if you're George Pickens, jump over them)
Mahomes threw 23 out of 34 passes, he had 261 passing yards, 4 touchdowns, and threw 0 interceptions.
Don’t be fooled, those stats sound good on paper, but Mahomes threw two touchdowns in the 1st quarter and then went cold for 2nd and 3rd quarters, not scoring until 4th. They weren’t getting lucky with refs either; the Chiefs were penalized 10 times for 119 yards. Most are pass interference.
The Chiefs are currently 6-6.
Twitter was in a storm, bringing back this meme.
Future for the Chiefs
The road ahead for Kansas City is going to be rocky. They can’t afford to lose their next 4 upcoming games.
Dec 7th – Texans
Dec 14th – Chargers
Dec 21st – Titans
Dec 25th – Broncos
There is still hope for Chiefs fans, “it ain’t over till it's over.” Mahomes almost led a comeback against Dallas, Dak, and his team were just not gonna let the Chiefs win on their turf on Thanksgiving.
Most of the errors were small and can be fixed in practice.
